At the ongoing World Economic Forum, I spoke at the @Pepsico’s Global Leaders roundtable on mobilizing Climate Finance for Regenerative Agriculture. In the wake of the food security crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, I championed Africa’s ability to feed the world.
There is an abundance of arable land on the continent. We need to fix commodity exchanges, we need to deal with issues of produce processing, transportation, storage, and access to electricity, but most of all we need to incentivise the farmers of Africa for us to see progress in the sector and create an export and tariff regime that works.
Agriculture is the highest employer of labour on the continent, and we need to mechanize and leverage technology to harness its full potential for the benefit of humanity.
